September 9, 2016 – Montreal, QC – Nubik is honored to be awarded the top prize for Recognition of Work-Life Balance, by the Ministère de la Famille au Quebec (Family ministry of Quebec) and the Regroupement des jeunes chambres de commerce du Québec (RJCCQ) for its efforts to promote a positive work-life balance for its employees. With initiatives aimed at achieving quality of work, accountability, transparency and collaboration all within a family-friendly framework, Nubik was unanimously voted the winner of the 2016 prize for Quebec companies of 20-49 employees.
Launched in 2009, the contest for Recognition of Work-Life Balance was established by the Ministère de la Famille as a way to publicly acknowledge the efforts made by organizations to promote both career and family values, as well as to inspire other organizations to implement their own initiatives. The contest is open to any company founded across Quebec.

A jury of five was unanimous in their decision to award the prize to Nubik, in the category of companies of 20-49 employees. Among all the contestants, Nubik greatly impressed the jury with the measures in place that enable the company to maintain a strong professional integrity while providing freedom and responsibility to its employees.
“Since inception, Nubik has encouraged employees to find the balance between family, community and hard work,” says Katie Bussières, President, Nubik. “As we continue to grow our organization in both Canada and the US, our employees, partners and even customers feel the positive results of our innovative family policies. Nubik is a great example of a successful, people-centric company. Our employees are our best assets, and it is an honor to be recognized for the efforts that we make to maintain a strong connection with all of them.”
A few of the measures embraced by Nubik include:
Telecommuting: All employees are equipped with a virtual office that allows them to work from a home office but keep a close connection with their colleagues and day to day activities via corporate chat; and voice and video conference.
Flextime: While most of the team works within the typical 9 to 5 range, we recognize that every individual is different and some people are productive outside of those hours. We encourage our staff to find what works best for them. Employees are entrusted with the responsibility to attend to family matters such as a doctor appointment, a child’s school recital, a volunteer effort, or to participate in a personal activity, provided they make up a total number of hours over the course of the coming weeks, and that they can respond to incoming requests within a 2-hour window.
Training: Nubik makes a significant investment in employee training, including sales and leadership coaching and allowing employees to take courses and gain accreditation in their field. Nubik also invites employees to participate in a wide range of projects, all with the aim of helping employees grow their career.
Family time: Nubik offers all employees 3 weeks vacation per year, 2 paid weeks during seasonal holidays, plus the opportunity for a number of other days off in recognition of family responsibilities.
When it all adds up, employees are given the leeway to take care of their family and themselves, all within a positive, professional environment.
